After a weeks worth of speculation all over the internet, it’s finally been confirmed! Two time Grammy award winning Ed Sheeran is set to return to Australian & New Zealand shores early next year thanks to Frontier Touring.
The release of ‘÷‘ singles Shape of You and Castle on the Hill saw Ed Sheeran break Spotify’s one-day streaming record with a combined 13 million streams in just 24 hours. The two songs also made history by debuting at #1 and #2 on the ARIA Singles Charts, something that had never been achieved previously. Since it’s release, the album ‘÷’ and it’s singles have broken streaming & charting records numerous times, with all sixteen tracks charting in the ARIA Top 40 and Shape of You holding the #1 spot for a record breaking fourteenth week in a row.
It’s undeniable that there is a strong connection between Ed Sheeran and his Australian fans, with his debut tour here in 2012 selling out in minutes, as well as his sophomore album ‘x’ being the biggest-selling album of 2014 in Australia.
Touring in celebration of his chart topping third studio album ‘÷’, Sheeran will perform unaccompanied on the stage with just his guitar and effect pedals. These shows will most likely follow suit of Sheeran’s other dates on the ‘÷ ‘World Tour’ and sell out almost instantly. If you don’t want to miss out on tickets be sure to register as a Frontier Touring member so you are eligible for their presale, which goes on sale Tuesday, 16th of May here.
